NEW NARRATIVES FOR A DIVERSE CULTURE

At porCausa, we believe that art, words, and images have the power to transform realities. That is why, in addition to researching and communicating, we also open the doors of our cultural space, a place for gathering, creativity, and critical thinking in the heart of the Embajadores neighborhood in Madrid. A place where we can collectively imagine a diverse, fair, and fearless society.

WHAT HAPPENS AT PORCAUSA CULTURE?

PORCAUSA FILM CLUB

For the past two years, on the last Thursday of every month, we have screened films that entertain, move, and spark conversation. Feature films and documentaries that challenge dominant narratives around migration, youth, ageing, and utopias. After each screening, we host discussions with filmmakers, activists, journalists, and other guests. To date, more than 250 people have attended our film club, which has become a space for connection, reflection, and community-building.

PORCAUSA BOOK CLUB

In 2024, we launched our first book club. We began with a series dedicated to utopias, reading and discussing works such as Beyond Concordia, Free, and Utopia Is Not an Island, alongside authors, researchers, and cultural activists. This space for conversation has helped us imagine possible futures together and foster a more hopeful intercultural coexistence.

EXHIBITIONS

We also open our doors to the visual and artistic work of emerging artists, many of them with migrant backgrounds. We have hosted exhibitions such as On Being and Not Being by Andrea Rodríguez and Currently Unavailable in Your Country or Region, curated by Solveig Font. These works engage audiences from both intimate and political perspectives, exploring memory, the body, and identity. More than 300 people have visited these exhibitions.

And beyond that… workshops, performances, talks, markets, and many other activities born from a desire to share, to strengthen community ties, and to build a culture that is caring, feminist, and diverse.
